pinnacle-2

The Pinnacle Panther ladies basketball team traveled to Eagle Mountain on Friday night to face the Rockwell Marshals. The Lady Panthers are 3-3 in their last six games and are heading into the last week of the regular season. Friday night Pinnacle started strong but this game was all about the middle quarters, and at the end Rockwell marched off with a 68-40 win.

This game started out with Pinnacle ending the first quarter down by just two. In the second and third quarters the Panthers struggled, managing just seven points between the two periods. Down 54-19 going in to the fourth, Pinnacle found their offense actually outscoring the Marshals 21-14, but the deficit was too much to make up and the Panthers lost their fourth in a row.

For the Rockwell Marshals Jenna Bond led all scorers with 18 points. Skiley Cluff added 15 and Greta Robinson had 14 points in the win. The win moves the Marshals to 17-6 and are ranked at No. 9 in the 2A RPI ahead of the State Championship Basketball Tournament that will begin this weekend.

The Panthers were led by Jacee Atwood with 13 points, Kemery Stuckenschneider added 11 and Destinee Andrews scored 10 in the loss. Pinnacle has three games left on their schedule this week starting Monday on the road in Wendover to face the Wildcats. They will then be home to take on the Miners from Tintic, and will wrap the regular season up on Friday in Green River to take on the Pirates. Pinnacle is now 4-10 and we will not know where they sit in the 1A RPI we’ll have to wait until this Saturday when the final results will be released. The State Championship Tournament for 1A schools will begin with the first round on February 25 at home sites and the finals will take place March 4 at the Sevier Valley Center on the Snow College Richfield Campus.
