survey

The USU Utah Wellbeing Project is currently hosting an opportunity to be a part of their project by completing the Wellbeing Survey that is being conducted for residents in Helper, Price, Wellington and East Carbon. Castle Country Radio was able to talk over the telephone with Community Resource Specialist, Dr. Courtney Flint about the survey.

“We did a survey last year within Helper early 2020 and then 2019 we did surveys in Price and Helper. This year we’re coming back and because we’ve had this COVID pandemic we’re coming back in and giving more people an opportunity, so we’ve got surveys in all four of these places,” said Dr. Flint. There are different links to each of the city’s surveys so whichever city you are affiliated with is the survey you will take. The surveys are being conducted up through February 25.

The information gathered from the survey is used in many ways as Dr. Flint explains, “The primary reason is to provide information for city leaders. Its also provides some information for research, we use them for teaching purposes, help students understand how things are going in Utah. We may do some research with this data, but first and foremost its to provide information for city leaders, keep their finger on the pulse of what and how people are doing and other issues around the community.”

The Utah Wellbeing Project would really like everyone over the age of 18 years old to take 10 minutes and complete the survey. “There are some demographic questions, we do ask about personal characteristics, I just want to assure everybody that we don’t know who you are, so it’s all anonymous. These things are important for two reasons. One, they really help us to see how representative we are being of the people of these cities. That’s really important, if we presented a lot of findings but weren’t careful about that they might not really represent the real community there. So we track that really carefully. Secondly, we’re looking at how wellbeing is varying across communities in Utah but we’re also looking at how it varies within communities,” stated Dr. Flint. The results of the survey will be shared with each of the cities and will be listed on the Utah Wellbeing Project website.
