Jose Carlos “Carl” Salas passed away peacefully on February 23rd, 2021 in Price, UT.

He was born October 6th, 1955 in Price, UT to Chico and Dora Salas.

He was raised in Helper, UT and graduated from Carbon High in 1973.  Later in life he received his Associates Degree from College of Eastern Utah.  He married Nancy Johansen on June 10th, 1978 in Cleveland, UT.  Together they had four children and later divorced.

He worked in the coal mines for some time.  Carl always impressed everyone with his exceptional math skills. He loved playing baseball in his youth and later played softball.  Carl had a passion for coaching and coached many years of Babe Ruth, Little League and softball.  He enjoyed bowling in a league with his friends.  He was always up for a trip to Wendover and made sure his children knew how to play Blackjack at a young age.  Later in life he enjoyed Wii Sports and going out for chocolate shakes.

Survived by his children Tasha (Trent) Graham, West Jordan, Tara Jo (Travis) Brown, Taylorsville, Shacoy “Bubba” Salas, Price, Matthew (Chelsea) Salas, Orangeville; sister Nancy Sanchez, Price; brother Arthur (Terri) Salas, Spring Glen; special aunt Sandra Lobato, East Carbon; stepdaughters Kendra (Brandon) Otterstrom, Clearfield, Breanna (Carlos) Martinez, Roy, Dezarae Jenkins, West Valley City and 15 grandchildren.

He is preceded in death in by his parents, sisters Kathy Scott and Yolanda Lopez, and granddaughter Jacie Beth Graham.

Private family Memorial Mass, Wednesday, March 3, 2021, 10:00 a.m., Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church.  Interment, Price City  Cemetery.
