
Carbon High School athletics are preparing for the spring sports season, which will begin on Tuesday, March 9 with baseball.
Led by manager Jeff Cisneros, the Dinos will open the new season at home against Payson at 3:00 p.m.. The first road game of the season will follow two days later against Summit Academy. The State Championship Tournament will begin with the opening round on May 8.
Softball will open the season on March 11 against Pine View. Under the instruction of new manager Kirt Nunley, the Lady Dinos will play on the road until they host the Richfield Wildcats on March 23.
The boy’s soccer team will play its first three games in St. George beginning on Thursday, March 11. The team will play three games in three days to open the season, before hosting Waterford on March 16, starting a five-game homestand.
The Carbon Lady Dinos golf team will begin its heavy schedule of play on Wednesday March 10 on the road in Richfield. This year’s schedule features nine meets ahead of the 3A State Championship on May 12 and 13.
The track and field season is scheduled to begin on March 13 as the Dinos join a variety of other schools throughout the state at the Grand County Invitational. The first home meet will follow one week later with the Farm Bureau Invitational.
Carbon’s boys tennis team will begin their busy season on Friday, March 12 with a pre-region tournament in Richfield. Following a road competition with the Union Cougars on March 17, the first home meet of the season will take place the following day against Uintah.
