Gustina Hales Muncy, age 82, passed away March 1, 2021.
She was born October 17, 1938 in Vernal, Utah to Nellie Timothy Hales and step-father Earl D. Hales.
Gustina graduated from Carbon High School in 1957. She worked in the Frontier Café and Carbon Hospital as a candy striper. While working at the café, she met Lewis E. Muncy and later they married on December 18, 1959. He passed away May 12, 1991. Gustina worked at Parkdale Care Center as a dietician for twenty-and-a-half years, retiring in 1999. She loved the outdoors and working in her yard. For years she canned every vegetable that was grown in the garden and shared the abundance with many friends, family and neighbors. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, cooking and line dancing at the Senior Center. She belonged to the Slovenian Home in Spring Glen and was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. Gustina enjoyed spending time with her children and especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was sealed in the Manti Temple on January 10, 2012.
Survived by two daughters and one son, Lydia (Jim) Spink, Tooele, Utah, Brenda Rutherford (Shane), Riverton, Utah, Doyle Muncy, Riverton, Wyoming; grandchildren, Melinda (Warren) Marshall, Heather Barber, James (Cheyanne) McKendrick, Chris (Jessica) Muncy, Levi (Taylor) Rutherford, Eric Rutherford, RoBee Muncy, AnDee Muncy, MaCee Muncy, Kiona Brignolo; 18 great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her husband, Lewis E. Muncy; son, Robert Louie Muncy; parents, grandparents and many others.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Gustina’s dear friends Mark and Gerri Page, Fred and Margaret Crespin and several others who always checked on her to see how she was doing or if she needed anything.
Funeral service, Friday, March 5, 2021, 11:00 a.m., Mitchell Funeral Home where the family will receive friends one hour prior to service. Interment, Mt. View Cemetery, Helper.
