The Helper Western & Railroad Museum is gearing up for a fun exhibit and Castle Country Radio took time to speak over the telephone with Director, Jason Huntzinger about that Railfans Exhibition.

“We’re really excited about what’s coming in next which is a photo exhibition contest, it’s going to be called Railfans. So there are quite a number of photographers that kind of come to this area and Price Canyon and Helper to chase the trains and make photographs so its open for entry now,” said Huntzinger. Preferences will be given to photographs of Price Canyon and the Helper area.

“It’s kind of nice I think how we are doing it because we’re just taking a $25.00 entry fee as a donation – so that benefits you too because then you get an individual membership with that donation. So you can come into the museum for a year and we will not ask you for additional donations,” explained Huntzinger.  If your entry is chosen for the exhibition then you’ll also receive a free archival print of your work which is a really nice value.

All entries must be received by May 31 and the exhibit will run from June 28 to September 25. “One of the fun things about this exhibit is we’re having Arts Festival this year, which is great, so we are going to do a Visitor’s Choice contest. So you can vote on these pieces that are in the exhibit starting in like June up until Arts Festival, then we will announce the winners and we’ll have some prizes on Arts Festival weekend on Saturday, August 21,” stated Huntzinger. Each entrant may submit up to three images. High-resolution jpegs should be sent to wmrmuseum@helpercity.net by May 31st. Accepted entries will be notified by June 12.

Interested photographers who may want further details can contact the museum at (435) 472-2009 or stop by the museum at 294 South Main Street.
