Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister and dear friend, Josephine Delight Newman, 79, passed away peacefully March 9, 2021 at home with her daughter Jennifer by her side.

She was born November 2, 1941 in Hickory Corners, Michigan to Ralph William and Lena Clemens Lindsey.  In 1964, Josephine married Fred Newman in Moab, Utah; later divorced.  On May 1, 1993, she married William “Bill” Wilson in Wellington, Utah; they also later divorced.

Josephine had a love for knowledge and she pursued her education at the College of Eastern Utah where she received her LPN and later graduated from Weber State with her Master’s in Nursing.  For years she warmed the hearts of many while working at Castleview Hospital and Castle Country Care Center as a Registered Nurse and Director of Nursing.

Josephine loved river rafting, golfing, gardening, strumming the guitar and playing on the pool league. She also loved working in her yard and tending to her beautiful garden.  Josephine touched the hearts of many, and she was a friend to all.  She will be sorely missed by her family and a community of friends.

She is survived by her children, Fred Lee Newman, Carbonville, Jodi Lynn Newman, Bentonville, Arkansas, Jennifer Ann Anderson, Wellington; two brothers and one sister, Mike (Noelene) Lindsey, James (Melva) Thayer, Stella (Dave) Peabody, all of Michigan; eight grandchildren, Cody, Garrett, Haze, Lindsey, Kelli, Calvin, Nikki and Maci; and a great-granddaughter, Kora.

She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters and one brother, Mary, Pat, Wanda, Diane and Ralph; and her granddaughter, Maquette.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to all the first responders, Carbon County Sheriff Department, Jeff at Mitchell Funeral Home, and especially Chief Bradley for always watching over mom.  Your many acts of kindness, devotion and generosity to Josephine will never be forgotten.

In remembrance of Josephine, the family invites friends to join them at the Cowboy Club in Wellington for a celebration of life on Saturday, March 20, 2021 at 3:00 p.m.  Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home where friends are welcome to share memories online at www.mitchellfuneralhome.net
