Riding a three game winning streak to start the season the Lady Spartan softball team headed to Moab for their first region contest against the Grand County Red Devils. The Spartans could not match the Red Devils offensively and would be handed their first loss of the season 11-1 in five innings.

The Spartans started out the season taking on all comers defeating Beaver, Uintah and Delta in the first week.

Early on in the game the the Spartans gave up six runs in the bottom of the first to Grand starting with a first pitch home run and the Red Devils would continue to beat up on the Spartans for the rest of the afternoon adding runs in the second and third and three more in the bottom of the fifth giving them the 10 run advantage and ending the game in five.

Janessa Westson and Tylee Norton registered the only hits in the game and Bralin Wilde scored the only run on the Norton single to left.

Emery will now get some well deserved time off. They will make the road trip to Blanding on Tuesday March 23 to take on the San Juan Broncos. Going back to 2019 these to teams faced off three times with the Broncos claiming the 2-1 advantage in the season series.

They will be home next Friday to take on the Carbon Dinos. Game time is set for 3:30 pm.
