GMS Mine Repair & Maintenance is hosting a Job Fair on March 26 for those interested in jobs with the local coal mines. Castle Country Radio was able to speak over the telephone with GMS Representative, Troy Hatch to talk about what GMS offers and about the job fair.

“We’re a local contracting company that supports the mines and other businesses in our local area. We work out of Sanpete, Sevier, Carbon, Emery, we do some Colorado, Wyoming stuff. We offer contracting services, mine services, capital projects, we do a little bit of everything and we’re looking for some good people right now,” stated Hatch. GMS has been serving the mining industry for nearly 40 years.

They will be hosting a Job Fair on March 26 at SUFCO Training Center at 597 State Route 24 in Salina, Utah. “I’ll be honest with you we are looking for some maintenance type people right now; I need some new miners also.  There a people wanting to get into the industry this is a great opportunity to do so. We’ve kind of been working with the local colleges and we need these maintenance type people really bad,” explained Hatch. There are also opportunities for brand new miners who are interested in a position as well.

Having experience is a plus when getting into the mining industry.  “If you have any maintenance type position, engine, transmission rebuild, hydraulics, electrical is a plus. It’s tough to find electrical those types of people right now. So I kind of laugh, I joke that they are unicorns but we do find them and we take care of them very well. It’s a great industry to be in. Its very close knit, very safe. WE just need to keep working hard,” stated Hatch.
