Thursday afternoon in Price the Dinos and Spartans met up for the first time on the soccer field. Due to the shortened season last year the two teams have never faced off in region action. This contest would go to the Dinos who claimed the 3-1 win.

It was really a tale of two halves as the Spartans seemed to lay claim to the first half and Carbon the second.

In the first half the Spartans seemed to move the ball freely about the field with little resistance from the Dinos. Carsen Childs would score the lone goal for Emery in the contest on a play where the Dinos seemed out of sorts and Childs swooped in to put the ball in the back of the net.

Moving in to the second half the Dinos would become a scoring machine. They moved the ball around the field with great foot work and finding the open man scoring three goals in the second half to seal their first win of the season. The trio of Joe Morley, Eli Beecher and Noah Bradford were responsible for the Carbon scoring.

Up next for the Spartans (3-3-1)is a meeting March 23 with the Grand County Red Devils in Castle Dale at 4 pm. Grand, another region foe is sitting at 3-0 on the season.

Carbon (1-3) will be at home to face the Richfield Wildcats on Tuesday the 23. Time is set for 4 pm.
