The CARE Coalition is thrilled to be involved in the National Drug and Alcohol Facts Week. They plan to share important information about drugs and alcohol on their Facebook page all week beginning March 22 till March 28.
“How we will be delivering this information is mostly going to be on our Facebook page where will have facts and myths around certain substances that youth and parents can get the facts on. Often times parents don’t know what their youth are thinking about these substances and we want to make sure parents understand that myths that youth might be thinking and that youth understand the actual facts to those myths,” said Prevention Coordinator, Alexandria Anderson. Youth and Parents can participate in the National Drug and Alcohol Facts Week by visiting the CARE Coalition Facebook page at CARE 4 Carbon.
It is important for youth and parents to have open dialogue when it comes to drugs and alcohol. “Well, I think that parents greatly underestimate the impact they might have on their children and the influence that they have on their children. We all know that peer pressures is a huge thing and as kids get older that because even more important to them but having a parent available to want to talk to and is willing to talk about difficult things with them is huge in a child’s life,” said Parent Volunteer, Kobi Prettyman. Parents who talk with their youth about drugs and alcohol help them build skills and strategies for avoiding drugs and alcohol.
The coalition is a non-profit organization that is committed to providing a safe environment that empowers youth to be healthy, successful and compassionate members of the community. They hope by participating in the National Drug and Alcohol Facts week beginning March 22 through March 28 will assist parents and youth to have the necessary discussion about the dangers of drugs and alcohol.
