The Emery Track and Field teams made the trip to Price on Friday to take part in the Farm Bureau Invitational at Carbon High School. The host Carbon claimed the top spot on the girls side with 108.5 points finishing ahead of second place Juab and as for the boys it was the team from Juab High with 89 points, second place belonged to Union with 72. The Emery boys team placed sixth out of 17 teams from across the state and the girls landed in 12th place.

This was the second meet of the season for the Spartans. On March 13 they traveled to Moab to take part in the Red Rocks Invitational where the boy’s team finished in second place and the girls fifth.

Aliya Lester claimed a fifth place finish in the 400 meters turning in a time of 1:08.38 just a couple of seconds from Juan Diego’s Samantha Lengerich’s 1:06.85. Bethany Justice earned a fourth place spot in the 300 meter hurdles at 50.16 ahead of Union’s Abrianna Chiara and her time of 51.43.

For the boys Jaxton Lake took the top spot in the shot put just ahead of Union’s Joey Sampson, and a third place finish in the discus which was just behind Sage Stroder of Grand. Bryar Maccariello ran for a second place finish in the 3200 meters with a time of 10:19.76 just behind Juab’s Dason Day who turned in the time of 10:19.54.

Up next for the Spartans is the Pine View Invitational on Friday in St. George. The invitational will host over 35 schools at Pine View High School.
