On Thursday night the Wellington City Council met to discuss current city business including a personnel matter involving Police Chief Rory Bradley. Back on March 18 Wellington City in a press release stated that Bradley had been placed on paid administrative leave pending the process of a personnel action. Since there was a pending investigation no questions could be answered at that time.
In the meeting on Thursday which was held virtually as well as broadcast on the city’s Facebook page, under the advisement of City Attorney John Schindler, the council and the mayor agreed to table the action until the next council meeting.
This came after Wellington City opened the floor for public comments, they also announced that they were not able to answer any questions on the matter.
During the comment period a member of the community came out in defense of Chief Bradley, when the comment period ended attorney Schindler took the microphone requesting the the council table the matter to the next meeting.”There have been some developments and I intended to speak with you tomorrow, I anticipate asking for a meeting quickly, but for the record tonight for our purposes tonight it would be my request that the council tables the matter for the next meeting, although I’m optimistic that it could be resolved before then.”
After that statement a motion was made and seconded and the entire council that was in attendance agreed. The next scheduled city council meeting is on April 14 and then again on April 28.
