
The Carbon baseball squad started a stretch of five games in three days, the first two were played Thursday against the Cedar Reds in Cedar City. The Dinos claimed victory in both contests taking the first game 16-5 in six innings and 18-7 in five innings in game two.
Carbon now sits at 7-1 after the double header but will have another one on Friday and just one single game on Saturday before they make the trip home from St. George.
Below is a brief recap of both of Thursdays games with Cedar:
Game #1- Win 16-5
The Dinos jumped out quickly in the first game scoring nine runs in the first two innings. The first run of the game was off of a Wyatt Falk single to the shortstop scoring Rylan Hart. Jordan Fossat would hit a double to left scoring Brayton Nielsen. In the next at bat Derick Robinson would fly-out to right, Falk would score and then Kade Dimick would bring Fossat home on a line drive to center. Inning two would be more scoring by the Dinos. Keaton Rich would start it off with a double to left bringing in Jacob Vasquez. The inning would be capped off by a Kade Dimick triple bringing home Falk and Fossat and pushing the score to 9-0.
Carbon added another seven runs allowing Cedar just five in the six inning win for the Dinos.
Kade Dimick and Jordan Fossat would each register three RBIs in the contest, Dimick on two hits and Fossat on three. Wyatt Falk had four hits while collecting two RBIs and five other Dinos registered at least one RBI in the game.
On the mound Jordan Wright would get the start and the win going five innings giving up four runs on five hits and striking out three. Brayton Nielsen would go one giving up one run.
Game #2 Win- 18-7
In game two the results were the same as game one, a win for the Dinos.
In inning one Carbon would get on the board scoring three runs but in the second they would erupt for 14. With the bases loaded Cooper Schade would score on a walk of Rylan Hart. The next three runs would come courtesy of a walk and two errors. With the score 7-0, Kade Dimick would hit a triple to left driving in Rich, Brayton Nielsen and Wyatt Falk.
After three singles and a double the Dinos would be sitting on a 17-0 lead in the top of the second. In the bottom half of the inning, Cedar would get their first runs on the board with two in the second, then another four in the bottom of the third and one more in the fourth before Carbon would shut them down the rest of the way. Carbon would add one more run and the game would come to an end 18-7 after five innings of play.
Kade Dimick would register five RBIs in the game on two hits while scoring one run. Wyatt Falk had three RBIs on one hit while scoring two. Rylan Hart would collect three runs on two hits with two RBIs.
Defensively Brayton Nielsen would get the start and the win going three innings giving up seven hits and six runs (three earned). Jacob Vasquez would go two, giving up one run and striking out one.
