The Carbon and Emery ladies softball teams met up on Friday in Castle Dale for the first time this season. With seven home runs, five double and a combined 16 RBIs both teams were ready to play, but in the end Carbon came out the victor 13-5.

Carbon sits at 9-1 with a 4-0 record in league play. In their last four games they have found their offense scoring 62 runs while allowing just 13.

The Spartans hold a 7-3-1 record with a 2-1 mark in Region 12 play. They had also won three of their last four games.

Scoring for the Dinos would start in the first inning off a Gianna Bruno home run to left field bringing in Makayla Scovil. Scoring for both teams would go quiet until the top of the third when Scovill would ground out to second base but scoring Katie Jones. On the very next pitch Lyndsey Madrigal would send one sailing over the left field wall. The scoring for the Dinos would end in the inning when Gianna Bruno would take another one for a ride this time over the wall in center to make the score 5-0 heading into the bottom of the third.

Both teams would go quiet until the bottom of the fourth when Kaejha Johnson would take one to deep left field for a home run scoring Tylee Norton and Bralin Wilde. Madison Childs would hit a solo shot to left field to make the score 5-4. Carbon was not done with the long ball barrage as Madrigal would bring home Molly Horsley and Scovill with a three run homer to left in the top of the fifth. A home run by Emery’s Arilynn Allred would close the gap for the Spartans 8-5 going into the sixth inning.

In the top of the sixth Katie Jones was credited with a double and scored on an error by the left fielder. Two batters later Bruno would bring home Horsley on a single to center field. Later in the inning Scovill would score on a wild pitch. The Dinos would score again in the seventh off a Madrigal double to right bringing home Stevie Oman, Horsley would also score.

For the Spartans Kaejha Johnson would collect three RBIs on two hits while scoring one run. Arilynn Allred and Madison Childs would record an RBI each.

On the mound for the Spartans, Johnson would get the start going five innings giving up 13 hits and 11 earned runs as she struck out one. Childs came into go two innings giving up two earned and striking out three.

For Carbon it was Lyndsey Madrigal with 6 RBIs on three hits and scoring two runs. Gianna Bruno claimed four RBIs on four hits and scored two.

Defensively Haven Bryerly gets the complete game win giving up five earned runs on six hits while striking out 13.

Up next for the Dinos, they are now on spring break and will not take to the field again until April 6 when they will face the Grand County Red Devils in Price.

As for the Spartans, they will face the Manti Templars on Wednesday the 31 in Castle Dale, game time will be 3:30
