
Cherrill Olsen Marx passed from this world to the open arms of her parents and siblings on March 30, 2021.
Cherrill was born in a two-room log cabin in Neola, Utah with her grandmother Averett acting as mid-wife on April 12, 1928 to Albert Birnell and LaNora Rachel (Averett) Olsen. She was the second child of six in the family.
At about three years of age, the family moved to Price, Utah. First the family lived in a boarded-up tent. Then her father built a house. She attended 9 years of school in Price and then the family moved to McKinnon, Wyoming. There Cherrill attended the 10th grade. Since that was the highest grade McKinnon offered, Cherrill returned to Price to stay with her grandmother Averett to attend 11th grade. Her graduating year was at Green River, Wyoming school.
Following high school graduation, she returned to Price where she met and married Kenneth LeRoy Marx on September 16, 1947, later divorced. Three children were born during this marriage, Kenna Bernice Evans, Gary Wayne (Jody) Marx, and Lorna Rae (Brent) Jensen. She was blessed with 14 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Cherrill received a stenographer and Associate degree from Carbon College, Bachelors Degree from Utah State University, masters degree from Brigham Young University.
Cherrill taught school in Price, Utah, Moab, Utah, Weed, California and the Northland Pioneer College in Arizona.
Cherrill belonged to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served 2 missions for the church.
Cherrill held many jobs including, selling advertising for the phone directories, secretary for construction company, coal company, Utah Farm Bureau and a receptionist for a doctor.
Cherrill loved to paint, work in her yard, make porcelain dolls and tour the US, Canada, the Yukon, Hawaii, the Caribbean, Alaska, Mexico and Baja. She managed 12 flying lessons, participated in the jeep Safari in Moab, Utah, rode horses, leader of the junior riding club and member of the ladies riding club.
Cherrill was preceded in death by her parents, Albert Birnell and LaNora Rachel Olsen. Her Siblings, Norman Lloyd, Betty Loraine, Arnol B, Grerald Dean, Linda Lou and a granddaughter Stephanie Kolynn Marx Heath.
A private Graveside service will be Thursday, April 1, 2021, 2:00 p.m., Price City Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home of Price where friends are always welcome and may share memories online at www.mitchellfuneralhome.net.
