The new construction of the ADA ramp was recently completed on the west side of the library building so that patrons can access the downstairs area from outside. Castle Country Radio was able to speak over the telephone with Tina Rowley and Tonya Kulow about the new ramp, grants and opening up Story Time Hour.

Many folks may have noticed that the library has installed a brand-new ADA ramp for patrons to access the downstairs area of the library. This was all due to a grant that the library applied for to cover the costs of construction.  “It’s the CDBG grant, it’s the Community Development Block Grant it funded the ADA ramp in to the basement. We opened it a couple of weeks ago. We are planning a ribbon-cutting ceremony for it on April 12 at 3:00 pm and the public is welcomed to attend,” said Rowley. This is a wonderful addition to the library as there was only stairs located inside the building that led to the downstairs area.

The library received another grant that will allow them to obtain some new books as Rowley explains, “Ok with the other one is the Children Teen Enhancement it is through the Institute of Museum and Library Services and the Utah State Library. They give us a certain amount of money and we have to order from their list which is well-reviewed, current 2020, 2021 titles award-winning books.” The library was granted $3,000.00 worth of books that have been ordered and they have received some of those books which are currently available on the shelves.

The library has had some restrictions with some of its programs due to the COVID pandemic.  They are so excited to be opening up their Story Time services. “On Monday, April 12 we are opening our story hour so that families can come to the library and enjoy this storytime that we usually do at 11:00 am. We will be having your register for it, signup for it so that we can have more of a controlled of how many children we have there at that time with their families,” stated Kulow. Families who wish to attend the Story Time Hour can call the library to reserve a spot at (435) 636-3188 or stop by their location at 159 East Main Street.
