condie

Carbon High School senior forward Preston Condie was named to the 2020-21 3A All-State First Team, it was announced Friday afternoon.

Selected by coaches throughout the 3A classification, Condie was the lone Carbon player to receive an All-State nod. The group of six on the first team includes Davin Ekins (Grantsville), Grady Thompson (Manti), Ladd Ivins (San Juan), Dom Burns (Judge Memorial) and Moroni Seely-Roberts (Grand). Juab’s Ty Allred was given 3A Most Valuable Player honors from the Deseret News.

Condie appeared in all 23 games for the Dinos, averaging a team best 17.4 points per game and 7.7 rebounds. He joined Allred, Burns and Seely-Roberts as the only four players in the classification to average more than 17 points per contest. Selected to the 3A All-Star game, Condie notched four double-doubles and scored in double-figures in all but one game on the season.

In a Dec. 4 win over Maeser Prep, Condie set his career high with 31 points, while adding six rebounds, one block and one steal. Just one week later he would match the 31 point total as Carbon rolled past North Sanpete 77-67.

The highlight of the season came in the second round of the 3A State Tournament when Condie again unloaded on North Sanpete, this time scoring 30 points. Trailing by three with only seconds remaining, he knocked down a contested three-point shot to send the game to double-overtime. Carbon eventually earned the win and advanced to the quarterfinals of the 3A State Tournament for just second time in nearly three decades.
