The Dinos softball team enjoyed a four game winning streak headed into Spring Break after their last win on March 26 against Emery. Thursday they got back on the field and back to their winning ways in Roosevelt as they defeated the Union Cougars 12-2.

Carbon sits at 10-1 and holds the No. 4 spot in the RPI rankings for 3A. The one loss came at the hands of No.1 Manti on the road with the final of 9-8. Carbon has been able to generate offense seemingly at will, in their 10 wins the average margin of victory has been 13 runs, and defensively they are averaging less than one error per contest. Another bright spot for the Dinos is the offensive play of Lyndsey Madrigal. Madrigal’s .730 batting average puts her at No. 6 in the state and her 30 RBIs land her in the No. 5 spot.

Carbon went to work in the second inning when Graycie Hansen hit a single to left field, Amaya Prettyman would advance to third and then score on an error by the left fielder, and Stevie Oman would score stealing home. Hansen would come home later in the inning on a single by Makayla Scovill, Lyndsey Madrigal would smack a triple to right field scoring Scovill making the score 4-0 at the end of the inning.

The Dinos added two runs in the next inning when a Molly Horsley single to center brought in Brooke Moosman and Heaven Vigil. Two singles and an error in the fifth inning would make the score 10-1, Carbon added two more runs in the top of the seventh pushing it to 12-1, and in their final inning Union scored just one run giving Carbon the victory.

Lyndsey Madrigal, Gianna Bruno Molly Horsley and Makayla Scovill each collected two RBIs in the win. Madrigal with four hits, Bruno with three and Horsley and Scovill each had two. The Dinos gathered 15 hits throughout the contest while committing one error.

Haven Byerly got the complete game win for Carbon, giving up two runs (one earned) on six hits while striking out 11.

Carbon takes to the field on Friday when South Sevier comes to Price. Game time is set for 3:30 at the Fairgrounds.
