The Carbon baseball team were at home for two games Friday and Saturday, facing a Region 12 opponent in the San Juan Broncos on Friday and the Bountiful Redhawks on Saturday, the Dinos would go 1-1 on the weekend to push their overall record to 10-6.

The Dinos have had some struggles of late going 3-5 in their last eight. They hold the No. 7 spot in the RPI ranking and are heading towards the end of the season with eight games left on the schedule, two games each with Richfield, Emery and Grand County as well as meetings with Tooele and American Leadership Academy.

Up first is a home contest with Richfield on Tuesday April 13 at 3:30.

Below is a recap of Friday and Saturday’s games:

Friday- San Juan- Win 7-1

In Friday’s contest with the San Juan Broncos the Dinos got started quietly scoring one run in the first when Jordan Fossat grounded out to second,  allowing Rylan Hart to score. The Dinos would go quiet until the bottom of the fourth, when Cooper Schade doubled to left scoring Derek Robinson and later in the inning Jacob Vasquez would fly out to center giving Brayton Nielsen and Schade the chance to score.

They would carry a 4-1 lead into the bottom of the sixth until a Keaton Rich double to left brought home Vasquez and Hart, and then later in the inning Rich would steal home to push the score to the 7-1 final.

Keaton Rich collected two RBIs on one hit and scored one run. Jacob Vasquez would earn two RBIs as well scoring one hit and one run.

On the mound Keaton Rich got the start collecting the win going 5 2/3 innings giving up one earned run on three hits striking out nine.  Rylan Hart would come in to close out the game giving up no hits and striking out one.

Saturday- Bountiful- Loss 1-0

On Saturday the Dinos face the Bountiful Redhawks. The Redhawks are the No. 14 team in 5A with a record of 5-5. This game was originally scheduled  to take place in March but due to inclement weather was rescheduled.

Bountiful scored the only run of the game in the first inning, and that was all that pitcher Easton Aubuchon needed as he would get the complete game shutout striking out nine Dinos in the process.

Carbon would get two hits from the bat of Jordan Fossat and another single from Wyatt Falk.

On the mound, Jordan Fossat would take the loss for Carbon going seven innings giving up five hits and one earned run while striking out nine.
