Kenneth Lynn Black Sr. “Ken”, age 78, passed away April 9, 2021 surrounded by family.
Ken was born April 18th, 1942 in Palisade, Colorado to Jack and Hazel Winifred Redd Black. He was raised on a farm in Mesa, Colorado where he and his siblings enjoyed spending time together and learning the value of hard work. He often talked about riding around the farm on milk cows.
Later, he moved to Dugway, Utah with his family where he attended Dugway High School. Ken was a longtime over the road truck driver before settling his family in Wellington and driving for Savage hauling coal. Ken worked for Savage for over 30 years where he made many great friends.
Ken will be remembered for always having a joke or a story to tell. He loved being able to make people laugh. Ken had a fascination with cars. He loved looking at them and sometimes buying them. It was a running joke that he should have become a used car dealer. In his younger years, he enjoyed camping, riding four-wheelers, fishing, and shooting. He also liked watching westerns and game shows. Ken was an avid football fan; he loved his Broncos and Utes.
Ken is survived by his loving wife, Carol; children, Mike (Bev) of Cedar City, Utah; Jodi (Chris) of Wellington, Utah; and Kenny “Moose” (Jen) of Price, Utah; grandchildren, Dustin, Brionna, McKelle, Denny, Shaleia, Kaylynn, Cameron, Brayden, and Jackson; siblings, Gilbert, of Littleton, Colorado; Phyllis of Grand Junction, Colorado; and Clayton (Brenda) of West Valley, Utah; also survived by children, Beverly, Sheri, Jim, Kimberly, Joe, and their families.
