Carbon Dino softball moved to a perfect 7-0 in region play after Wednesday’s meeting with the Grand County Red Devils in Price.  Lyndsey Madrigal homered pushing her season total to 11 and Haven Byerly would get the complete game shut-out victory in five innings 10-0.

The Dinos have now switched spots with the Red Devils in the RPI with Carbon taking over No. 3.  The Lady Dinos are at 12-1 overall this season with their only loss coming at  the hands of the No. 1 Manti Templars in a very close game, 9-8.

In the first inning, Lyndsey Madrigal would send a double to center allowing Makayla Scovill to cross the plate putting Carbon’s first run on the board. Haven Byerly would hold Grand to just 10 batters through three innings, and in the bottom of the third the Dinos were ready to add more runs to the board. Four different players collected singles in the inning and a Molly Horsley double would run the score up to 8-0 going into the fourth. Two more singles in the bottom of the fifth and then Madrigal would come up to the plate sending one over the left field fence that would bring Scovill home and end the game 10-0.

Lyndsey Madrigal would collect three RBIs on four hits and added two runs. Madrigal sits in the top five in the state in three offensive categories: batting average (.792), home runs (11) and RBIs (41).  She is just outside the top 5 in runs scored with 32.

Gianna Bruno and Molly Horsley each had two RBIs on two hits. Amya Prettyman, Brooke Moosman and Makayla Scovill collected one RBI, Scovill also collected four hits in four at bats.

Haven Byerly got the complete game shut out throwing just 62 pitches, 49 for strikes and surrendered two hits.
