It took just four innings for the Carbon Lady Dinos to earn their 9th consecutive win as they defeated the Richfield Wildcats 16-0 Friday afternoon in Richfield.

The second meeting of the season played out similar to the first, as Carbon’s defense kept the Wildcats out of rhythm throughout the game to earn the season-series sweep. Friday’s win moves the Lady Dinos to 8-0 in Region 12 play and 13-1 overall.

Senior Lyndsey Madrigal once again went yard as she finished 2-4 at the plate with three RBIs. Brooke Moosman also hit a home run, while tallying three RBIs in a 3-3 effort. Makayla Scovill nearly hit for the cycle as she ended with a single, double and triple to go with a team-high four RBIs.

As a team the Lady Dinos gathered 14 hits with four different players finishing with at least two. The offensive production was extremely lopsided as Richfield ended with just one hit.

Moosman continued her dominance on the mound as she pitched a complete game. Allowing just one hit, she also struck out two batters. She currently holds a perfect 5-0 record on the hill with a 2.92 ERA in 26.1 innings so far this season.

Friday’s victory marks the third consecutive shutout for Carbon. The team has not lost since March 17 when they suffered an extra innings setback on the road to Manti.

With six games remaining on the slate, Carbon will return to the field Monday with a non-region game against the Uintah Utes at home at 3:30 p.m.. That contest will begin a busy week, where the Lady Dinos will play four games in five days.

Carbon will resume Region 12 play Tuesday at home against the Emery Lady Spartans.
