Jim K. Conover passed away on April 20, 2021. He was born on March 2, 1944 in Kenilworth, Utah, the son of Elden Kenneth Conover and Stella Conover. Jim was preceded in death by his loving wife, Marianne Patterick Conover.
Jim spent his formative years in Price, Utah, and graduated from Carbon High School where he was a member of the football team. He attended the University of Denver.
Jim soon embarked on a banking career in Utah for over thirty years, the majority working for Zion’s Bank.
He married Lynda Greener, and they were later divorced. They had two daughters, Tracy Jensen and Gail Brown.
On February 18, 1970 he married Marianne Patterick in the Manti Temple. They have one daughter, Ashley Conover.
Jim was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held various priesthood and ward positions over the years, He and Marianne lived in Grantsville, Utah the last ten years of their lives and loved their neighbors and friends in that rural community.
Jim was an avid outdoorsman. He loved to fish and hunt on the Ferron mountain, the Uinta mountains, Canada and Alaska. He was a grand-slam sheep hunter. Marianne was Jim’s camping partner on many of these outdoor adventurers.
Jim was a straight-shooter in more ways than one and you always knew where you stood with him. He seemed to always have a witticism for every occasion or mood. For example, if he felt poorly, he was “lower than a snake’s belly”.
Jim spent his last years with failing health. As such, he often expressed gratitude for those who supported and sustained him: his older brother Tom and his wife, Donna; the staff at Heritage Place in Bountiful; Bishops Travis Mulford and George Richards; the staff of Utah Home Health and Hospice; long-term friend, Kim Butters, and other loving folks.
A viewing for family and friends will be held on Saturday, May 1, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM at Fausett Mortuary located at 680 E 100 S, Price, Utah.
A graveside service will follow at 12:00 Noon at the Price City Cemetery.
Due to current Covid-19 Protocol, masks are required for both the viewing and the graveside service.
