Coming off of Tuesday’s meeting, the Carbon and Emery baseball squads met up again on Friday in Price. Carbon claimed the earlier contest 12-2 in Castle Dale and led for much of Friday’s game, but a big seventh inning from the Emery bats would push the Spartans toward the 7-4 win.

Carbon grabbed the early 4-0 lead, but Emery added two runs in the fourth and found their offense in the top of the seventh scoring two runs on Carbon errors. Gannon Ward would drive in two of his four RBIs in the game on a single to center field. Ward would score on a wild pitch two batters later and pushed the score to 7-4 and secured the Emery victory.

Ward connected on 2-4 at bats and scored one run. Jax Madsen went 2-3 at the plate for the Spartans. Ryker Jensen collected two and Luke Stilson added one hit.

On the mound the Emery duo of Oakley Alton and Trevin Wakefield held the Dinos to six hits with Alton getting the start going five innings, giving up four runs and struck out three. Wakefield collected the win with two innings of work striking out two.

Jordan Fossat had another great offensive outing going 3-3 for the Dinos driving in two runs. Rylan Hart, Cooper Schade, and Brayton Nielsen all finished with one hit.

Carbon used a trio of pitchers with Keaton Rich putting in three innings of work giving up two runs (one earned) on two hits and struck out three. Kade Dimick took the loss going 3 2/3 surrendering five earned runs while fanning five. Beau Vea came in and finished out the game.

Emery moves to 11-5 overall and 6-2 in region and hold the No. 7 spot in the state RPI. They will face Bear Lake on Monday in Salt Lake City. A road contest on Tuesday April 27 with Richfield and then back home for the final two games of the regular season with North Sevier on Wednesday and the season finale against Richfield on Friday April 30.

As for the Dinos they sit at 13-7 and 7-1 in Region 12 play and can be found in the No. 4 RPI spot. They have two home games left on their schedule with Grand and Tooele before they end the week on the road in Moab to take on Grand once again. Carbon will end the season on May 3 in Spanish Fork to take on American Leadership Academy.
