The Emery soccer squad, just like every other in 3A waited for the Utah High School Activities Association to release the final RPI rankings and the bracket for the State Championship Tournament. When the Spartans viewed the rankings they found out they will be facing a familiar foe from Region 12, the No. 4 Grand County Red Devils.
Emery ended the season with a 7-9 record landing them in the No. 13 spot. The Spartans went 3-3 in their last six and the last team they faced in the regular season is the same one they will face in the first round.
Grand defeated Emery in both of their contests this year. Back on March 23 in Castle Dale the Red Devils claimed a 3-0 shutout against the Spartans and then just last Thursday the Spartans wrapped up the regular season in Moab surrendering a 4-0 shutout.
Emery will travel to Moab on Wednesday May 5 to face Grand at 4pm, if the Spartans win they will face the winner of Morgan and Union/American Leadership Academy.
