The Carbon Dinos are wrapping up the regular season on the diamond. On Wednesday the Tooele Buffaloes were in Price, and although they kept it close early, in the later innings Carbon would put the game away taking the non-region win 11-5.

The Dinos were looking to rebound from the loss to Emery last week as they got to work early scoring three runs in the first inning. After surrendering a home run to the Buffaloes in the second, Carbon answered right back when Cooper Schade, sitting on a 2-2 count sent one over the right field fence bringing home Rylan Hart. Wyatt Falk would cap off a four run fourth inning with a two run double to right field.

Schade went 3-of-4 at the plate for the Dinos with three RBIs. Jacob Vasquez and Kade Dimick tacked on two hits each in the victory.

On the mound it was Jordan Wright that got the start and the win going 4 1/3 innings giving up five runs (three earned) on eight hits and struck out four. Falk would come in going 2 2/3 allowing no runs and no hits while striking out five.

Carbon will head back to the field on Thursday for a rescheduled game with the Grand County Red Devils in Price. The game was originally set for Tuesday and was postponed due to weather. On Friday they will face the same Grand team on the road before they wrap up the regular season on Monday May 3, with another road contest at American Leadership Academy.

After Monday’s contest, the Dinos will wait until Wednesday May 5 when the Utah High School Activities Association will release the final RPI rankings and the 3A State Championship Tournament Bracket.

The tournament is set to begin at region sites on Saturday May 8 and will wrap up on May 13-15 at Salt Lake Community College.

The first pitch for the game against Grand on Thursday which is also Senior Day is scheduled for 3:30 at the Carbon High Field.
