The Emery Spartan track and field squad came to Price on Friday to take part in the Eastern Utah Championships. At the end of the day they found themselves finishing in fourth place on the boys side and the girls grabbed fifth.
Union claimed the top spot for the boys followed by Carbon, Uintah, Emery and Duchesne.
Trevin Brazier continued collecting first place wins in the 100 meters turning in a time of 11.33, and two more first place finishes in the 300 meter hurdles and the 200 meter.
Bryar Meccariello took the top spot in the 800 meters with a time of 2:02.89. Meccariello and and team mates Camden Larsen, Mason Hurdsman and Jack Christiansen finished in fifth place in the 4×400 relay and Larsen also finished fifth in the 3200 meters.
And in field events, Jaxton Lake threw for two first place finishes in the discus and shot put and Maddox Christman finished in third in the shot put.
On the ladies side Carbon took the top spot followed by Union, Uintah, Grand and Emery rounded out the top five.
Bethany Justice had two top five finishes taking second in the 300 meter hurdles and fourth in the 100 meter hurdles. Justice and the team of Bryn Gordon, Nicole Castro and Abby Morris took third place in the 4×100 relay. In the sprint medley relay Shaylee Grange, Addie Lester, Elli Whitsel and Castro finished in fourth.
In throwing events Haley Guymon, Julia Shorts and Miriah Salee went three, four and five in the javelin. Guymon also claimed a fourth place finish in the discus.
The Spartan track team will be in Provo for the Brigham Young Invitational this Friday. Then next week on May 12-13 they will take part in the Region 12 Championships at Carbon High School in Price.
