The Lady Dinos gave everything they had at the 3A State Championship tournament in Spanish Fork over the weekend. After their opening round loss to Grand, they went on to defeat Providence Hall, North Sanpete, South Summit and Grand.

Next up was the Manti Templars. The two teams faced each other in March in a tight contest, the Templars came out on top.  The game on Saturday would go to extra innings with Carbon falling 8-7.

Carbon wouldn’t put any runs up until the sixth inning. A pair of singles from Amya Prettyman and Stevie Oman tied up the score at 2-2. Coming to the plate in the seventh Lyndsey Madrigal sent a home run over the wall in left bringing home Molly Horsley.

Manti would tie it up at four in the seventh inning, when Katie Larsen would cross the plate off of an Oman error.

Carbon would take the lead back in the eighth only to see Manti tie it back up again. In the top of the ninth, Gianna Bruno would reach on an error that would score Graycie Hansen and Haven Byerly would send a single to left allowing Madrigal to come home putting Carbon up 7-5.

Manti came into the bottom of the ninth tying it up on an error. A single from the Templars Tiffany Hermansen bringing home Sadie Cox would give Manti the win, ending the Dinos season.

Madrigal went 3-for-3  scoring three runs and driving in two.  Horsley, Byerly, Prettyman and Oman each registered one hit.

Byerly would get the start and take the loss on the mound, going eight and 1/3, allowing six runs (two earned) on nine hits and struck out 11. Brooke Moosman came in to finish out the contest.

Carbon Ended the season 20-5 overall and took the Region 12 Championship with a record of 9-1.
