Our dear sister, Sherry Fern Preston Shaff, age 74, was called home on May 13, 2021.  She passed away at home surrounded by her loving sisters.

Sherry was a very giving person and always showed unconditional love to her siblings, nieces, nephews, family members and friends. Sherry was born on May 28, 1946 in Dragerton, Utah to William and Masel Fern Brown Preston.

Sherry lived in our small community for most of her life, with the exception of a few years living in Spanish Fork where she graduated from Spanish Fork High School and then beauty school with her diploma in cosmetology. She touched so many lives with her personality and genuine smile that would light her up like a ray of sunshine.

Sherry married the love of her life Edward Shaff on March 31, 1975 in Elko, Nevada and they spent 29 years together living in East Carbon. She was active in so many programs and activities in the community. Sherry was a member of the Beta Club, was on the bowling league at Sunny Bowl, clown in the Community Days Parade, volunteer at the East Carbon City Museum, was on planning and zoning committee and wrote the community newsletter. Sherry made beautiful wedding, doll and anniversary cakes. She was a very special spirit who was the light of so many lives and will be dearly missed.

Survived by her brother, William (Diana) Preston, Jr.; sisters, LaDonna Robertson, Kay Lewis, Leighann Iodice, Mae Crank and Billie Jean (Guy) Koss, a very special brother-in-law; many nephews and nieces; step-son, Kelvey Shaff; grandchildren, Amber Astete, Justin Shaff and four great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her parents, William and Masel Preston; husband, Edward Shaff; brothers-in-law, Richard Lewis and Neil Robertson; nieces, Candace Boyd and Kristi Robertson; step-children, Mark and Julie Shaff.

Graveside service, Friday, May 21, 2021, 11:00 a.m., Valley View Cemetery in Sunnyside. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home where friends are always welcome daily and may share memories online at www.mitchellfuneralhome.net.

The family would like to thank Rocky Mountain Hospice staff, especially nurse Jade and aide’s Erica and Chelsea, for the care they gave our dear sister.
