May 14- Grand- Loss 7-1

The Lady Spartans entered the game against the Grand Red Devils knowing that the next loss would end the season for them. The Red Devils jumped out to an early lead that Emery couldn’t recover from, ending their playoff run with a 7-1 loss.

Grand would put up six runs in the first two innings and turn on their defense. The Spartans couldn’t find an answer for the Red Devil’s pitching, although Emery did collect eight hits in the contest they were only able to put one run on the board, which is a testament to Grand’s defensive team mentality.

Price and Johnson both collected two hits each and Shyanne Jensen snagged a hit and an RBI.

On the mound the Spartans would throw two pitchers at Grand. Cambrie Jensen started, going two innings giving up six runs, five earned striking out two. Aspen Taylor went four giving up one earned and struck out six.

Looking ahead to next season, Bell said the group of underclassmen will have some pretty big shoes to fill.

“You know we lost a whole bunch of seniors this year, so it’s always tough to lose your seniors. I’m pretty excited what the next year can bring for us. We had some girls step up and do some really good things, I think we’ll be o.k. But they’ve got some big shoes to fill from our seniors.”
