Haylee Prescott continued her dominance as the Carbon track and field squad was in Kaysville at Davis High School for the 3A State Championships last weekend. Prescott ended the weekend on the at the top of the podium after earning a first place finish in the high jump. Both the boys and girls teams had terrific showing ending the two day competition in the top 6 out of 16 schools.

Prescott, a junior who finished the season with six top finishes in the high jump, continued her consistent performance bringing home the top spot for Carbon. She would also finish in sixth in the long jump.

In relays the team of Lyndee Mower, Eminie Elliiot, Makenna Blanc and Prescott claimed the second place spot, turning in a time of 51.05 in the 4×100 two seconds off the pace set by Delta’s 49.76. In the sprint medley Mia Crompton, Beverley Lancaster, Blanc and Mower finished in the fourth position.

Elliot crossed the finish line with a time of  16.80 for sixth place in the 100 meter hurdles and seventh in the 100 meter.  Freshman Mia Crompton ran for sixth place in the 400 meter. Lancaster, who has been a staple in distance running for Carbon all season finished in sixth place in both the 3200 and 1600 meters.

In field events senior Saydee Johnson grabbed fifth place in the long jump. Johnson has consistently finished in the top five in the long jump at every meet she has participated in this season.

Tymber Bennett threw for the eight spot in the javelin for Carbon.

For the ladies, the Dinos finished in the fifth spot. Delta, Morgan, Juab and Union made up the rest of the top 5.

Ryker Childs ended his high school track career with a second place finish in the 110 meter hurdles turning in a time of 15.36, just seconds behind Emery’s Trevin Brazier at 15.16. Childs also claimed a sixth place finish in the 100 meter and fourth in the long jump.

In individual running events, Easton Humes earned a sixth place finish in the 400 meter and eighth in the 1600 meter races. Kobe Cruz finished in seventh in the 3200 and sixth in the 1600 meters.

In relay events, Humes and Cruz along with Will Carmichael and Nathan Hobbs were part of the seventh place finish for the Dinos in the sprint medley. Caleb Winfree and Ashton Ferguson joined Carmichael and Hobbs for an eighth place finish in the 4×100 relay.

As for field events Winfree finished in third in the long jump while Bowden Robinson threw for third in the javelin and Bradley Wood finished with third in the shot put.

On the boys side of the board they finished in No. 6 spot. Morgan would take first followed by Juab, Emery, Delta and Richfield.
