Meaningful Mindz is an organization that offers programming to school-age youth in a variety of small group settings. Castle Country Radio was able to sit down with the Program Manager, Janell Fiack and Program Director to talk about the organization.

“We help assist students with their homework whether it be reading, or math, or just have somebody there to sit with them to go through their homework, just giving them that extra support. Sometimes we as adults/parents don’t have that extra time and so just wanted to help provide that service for those parents that maybe was feeling overwhelmed or just not having enough time to dedicate to that,” said Fiack. Afterschool programs, Summer Science Hub, S.T.E.A.M. Hub, Homework Hub, Friday & Friends are just a few programs offered by the organization.

The organization is also looking at helping the teens in the program with customer service skills. “That is one of the areas we hope to work with these kids and showcase mannerisms, and how to conduct yourself in those settings. So that they feel successful and they don’t feel intimidated or scared when they are in the presence of those adults whether it be in a work situation or just a community event. We want those kids and these youth grow up knowing that those people are safe people and they are here to support them and help them thrive in their world,” said Fiack. Being aware of social/emotional learning helps better prepare youth for life after high school.

S.T.E.A.M. learning is a big part of Meaningful Mindz curriculum. “So S.T.E.A.M. stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math. Its an approach to teaching and learning in with S.T.E.A.M. education principals are taught through art,” said Fiack. This type of learning helps to develop and build critical thinking, leadership, and creativity skills.
