
Longtime Carbon County resident Louis Pappas, age 83, passed away May 31, 2021.
He was born to Paul Pappas, Sr. and Annie Nucich on March 24, 1938 in Hiawatha, Utah.
He remained in Hiawatha until being drafted into the U.S. Army in the 1960’s. Upon discharge from the military Louis relocated to Salt Lake City for a few years and there met his future wife, Betty Oliver. They were married in 1966 and subsequently relocated to Price, Utah where they remained. They were married for 52 years until Betty’s death in 2018.
He was very proud of his military service and being a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Much of his time after retirement was spent tending to the needs of his pets. Even strays were fed and watered. He was an avid Utah Jazz fan who watched as many games as he could.
Louis was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Betty Pappas; and brothers, Paul Jr. and Angelo.
He is survived by his sister, Patricia (Herb) Richardson, Mesquite, NV; sister-in-law, Shirley Pappas, West Carrollton, OH; nephews, Kerry (Heather) Richardson, Rigby, ID, Mark (Solange) Richardson, Ely, NV, Troy (Cheryl) Pappas, Miamisburg, OH; niece, Paula (Scott) Cooper, West Carrollton, OH and many great nieces and nephews.
Louis’s family thanks all of the staff at the Emery County Care and Rehabilitation Center for the patient and loving care they provided to Louis during his stay there.
Funeral service Monday, June 7, 2021, 11:00 a.m., Assumption Greek Orthodox Church. Trisagion service Sunday evening 7:00 p.m., Mitchell Funeral Home where the family will receive friends one hour prior to services. Interment Cliffview Cemetery.
