The Miss Carbon County Organization is planning for an upcoming Informational Meeting on June 15. This is for any girls that are interested in participating in the Miss Teen Carbon or Miss Carbon pageants coming up in August. Those interested in the Miss Teen will meet at 5:00 pm and those interested in the Miss Carbon will meet at 6:30 pm at Mont Harmon Middle School.

The pageant has been around from some time now as Pageant Director, Kylie Howes explains, “So the Miss Carbon County Organization has been around for quite a while. I think this year is actually our 65th year, don’t quote me on that but I think that’s about where we’re at. It’s a really great organization for young women in our community to not only benefit their community with their service platforms but to also earn scholarship funds to further their education, and also to just be role models and examples to the younger girls that are coming up through the organization. It’s just a great program.”  Young women age 17-24 are eligible to compete in the Miss Carbon County Pageant and young women age 13-17 are eligible to compete in the Miss Teen Carbon County competition

The upcoming Informational Meeting is a great way to learn more about the organization and get any questions answered about competing. “So we will go over eligibility requirements, scholarship information, county requirements, contract information. We’ll go over the phases of competition, so talent, the interview process, building their community service platform, wardrobe requirements, and then they’ll get to meet the committee and the title holders,” said Pageant Co-Director, MeriLynn Tubbs. The deadline to apply for the pageant is July 27. All paperwork will need to be submitted on or before this date. The contestant paperwork can be found on the Miss Carbon County Organization website.

Any young girls that are interested in the Mini, Little or Junior Miss Carbon County pageants will need to mark their calendars for an important orientation workshop taking place on July 21 at 5:00 pm at Mont Harmon Middle School. “With that orientation meeting, everything is due at that time. So they need to have all their paperwork turned in and that is our sign-up deadline as well so that’s July 21 at 5:00 pm at Mont Harmon,” stated Howes. These categories are for girls ages 4 to 12 years of age.
