Acres 10,526

Containment 10%

Cause Lightning

Location 4 miles NW of Helper, Utah

The Bear Fire is currently mapped at 10,526 acres and is approximately 10% contained.

The fire was active until about 12:30 a.m., burning green islands within the
existing fire perimeter but not spreading much. It was most active in Sowbelly Gulch
and along Hardscrabble Road.

Today, firefighters will likely burn along Spring Canyon Road, if conditions permit,
to remove vegetation along that fireline. Successfully blackening that line is a
critical step in protecting the community to the south, and firefighters will
actively work today to complete that in advance of the fire.

Highway 6 remains open at this time.

A Red Flag Warning is in effect for the fire area today for high temperatures and
increased winds.

A PUBLIC MEETING will be held TONIGHT at 7 p.m. at The Rio Theatre – Helper,
Connectivity permitting, we’ll be livestreaming that meeting @UtahFireInfo on
Facebook.
