The Helper Saturday Vibes was unable to host their event last weekend due to the Bear Fire near Helper. Organizers are shooting for this Saturday, June 19 to kick this summer event off and hope that the community comes out for the event.

“It was really difficult as you mentioned to have to make a decision to cancel especially on pretty short notice but as we were looking at the weather reports and staying in close connection with the fire department and also the City of Helper, we really just determined the safest bet was to prioritize as always the health and safety of our community and in this case that meant cancelling the event,” said Event Organizer, Allie Farnham. Organizers felt it was the best decision to make at the time to keep everyone safe.

This Saturday’s event will begin at 4:00 pm till 11:00 pm as the city has allowed for an extension of event hours. “We were approved for three bands this week, we are super excited. We have the Waldron Brothers coming from Salt Lake to play for us at 4:00 pm. At 7:00 pm, we’ll have Swagger they’re are Celtic, Americana band, kilt wearing, rocking out on our stage 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. At 9:30 pm we will have our local Helper band, Pique and we’re super excited for them to throw down the closing act for us,” said Noel Toomajian. Each of the bands will be performing on the Main Street Stage located on Helper’s Historic Main Street.

There will be lots of free family-friendly events taking place throughout the evening. “Come join us on our Main Street the galleries will be open, we’ll have some food trucks, like I said full-bar. The weather should be beautiful. Get some sunset actions so we’re looking forward to it,” said Toomajian. Not only will the local galleries be open but the restaurants and stores will be open along Main Street as well.

Recycling information and education will be shared at the event. “We’ve partnered with Recyclops out of Salt Lake they are trying to get into Carbon County and provide recycling services for our community and so we’re really going to be providing a lot of education on not only recycling but also composting. We have Helper Homegrown with Matsuda Acupuncture providing all of our composting for every event. So there really is going to be zero waste produced at these events,” stated Farnham. The organizers are excited about talking with residents about recycling services.
