GMS Mine Repair & Maintenance is hosting a Job Fair on June 25 for those interested in jobs with the local coal mines. Castle Country Radio was able to speak over the telephone with GMS Representative, Troy Hatch to talk about what GMS offers and about the job fair.

“So we’re a local contractor for mines and other businesses around Sanpete, Sevier, Carbon and Emery counties. We do some work in Wyoming, Colorado, New Mexico. But we’re a contractor, we do special projects at the mines. We also do labor for the mines; we do capital projects also. We are looking for some people right now,” stated Hatch. GMS has been serving the mining industry for nearly 40 years.

They will be hosting a Job Fair on June 25 at SUFCO Training Center at 597 State Route 24 in Salina, Utah. “Right now, if you have a current driver’s license, if you can pass a background check, and then we do drug testing also, sometimes we do a fit for duty, but if you can meet those standards and do those things and get some training done, we have jobs,” explained Hatch. The job fair begins at 8:00 am till 2:00 pm but they will stay longer if need be.

“We’re looking for some underground miners. We have a few surface positions but they are far and in between, a little slower on that side. But we are actually looking for people who are willing to roll up your sleeves, come to work, work safe and perform, we’ll keep you busy,” stated Hatch. There are two mines that are currently looking for miners, Skyline and SUFCO Mines.
