The Castle Country Acting Company is excited to present Thumbelina as their next show that will be taking place on July 16, July 17 and July 19 at the Price City Civic Auditorium.
“So the Castle Country Acting Company has been running for about 12 years now. We are currently doing our tenth production. We work with kids age 5 to about 18 years old, most of them are about 8 years old to 10 years old. We just have a lot of fun. Our goal is to give these kids a good experience in theatre,” said Program Coordinator, Katie Iverson. The company teaches the children all the different aspects of theatre whether that’s costume design, set design, lighting and sound.
Iverson is not only the Program Coordinator but she also writes scripts for some of their productions. “To be honest, I looked for scripts to use for kids and there really wasn’t a lot, and what there was, was kind of no great and I thought maybe I could write something you know that would be good for the kids that we had, that auditioned. So I started writing scripts then even my first performance I wrote the script,” said Iverson. She grew up participating in an acting company, it showed her all the in and outs of a theater company. She remembers how much she loved that experience that she wanted to bring that to Carbon County for children.
The company is currently looking for businesses to help sponsor them. “So this year we are moving to the Price Civic Auditorium we have usually preformed at The Rio Theatre in Helper. But now Emily and I live in Price and we’re just kind of looking to find a new direction and so we decided to more our shows here to Price where we are now. A lot of that sponsorship money we’re looking for is covering the cost of renting the theatre, paying cleaning fees that sort of thing,” said Iverson. The company is also looking at setting themselves up in a building where they can store items from their productions such a costumes and props.
