Mallory Beth Knop passed away June 20, 2021, at her home in Grand Junction, Colorado.  She was a loving daughter, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, and friend.  Mally joined this world on her great grandmother’s birthday July 26, 1987, in Price, Utah. Her parents, Michael Eugene Knop and Elizabeth Ellen Terrill Knop were overjoyed at her birth.

Mally lived a happy childhood  in Ferron, Utah, where she enjoyed being spoiled by her big sisters, Jennifer and Gwendolyn. When she was two her brother, Robbie was born. The pair were constant companions and best buds.  Many people will remember that Mallory had a flair for drama.  She spent much of her early childhood in a swimming suit with Robbie tagging along beside her, loyal Flounder. The Little Mermaid was the favorite and most frequent subject of pretend play. Mally and Robbie had the best childhood friends, Russel and Katrina Chiaretta.  The Knops and Chiarettas grew up together and were involved in many shenanigans.

Mally spent time with her mother in the garden, kitchen, and rocking in the rocker. Mallory enjoyed songs and books, and everyone around her was happy to sing and read to her, fostering a lifelong love for music and reading across all genres. She loved to dress up and wore many costumes sewn by her mother.  When mom became sick, Mallory cared and tended  for her.

Mally was a daddy’s girl, and he was pleased and proud to be her father.  Active in her care, he was often seen carrying her in his arms or on her shoulders. They spent many hours in the red pickup with their blue heelers, Faye and later Bud getting treats and checking water. Both Mally and Robbie went everywhere with their dad and could be found anywhere between hunting rabbits to hunting arrowheads. Mally one time happily got her dad into big trouble when she tattled that “Robbie had eaten lots and lots of bullets,” ( it was only one or two). Mallory could shoot and fish as well as anyone, often wearing her swimming suit or a princess dress. Her love of the outdoors began with her father.

Mallory had a large extended family in Illinois and she was loved and spoiled when they visited together.   Mally was  proud to have been baptised at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church  which was the same church where her father was baptised and confirmed.

Mallory did well in school.  She and her best friend Abbie experienced many milestones together. Distance and relationships changed, but their friendship only grew stronger. After graduation Mallory joined the Utah National Guard and was proud to serve her country and enjoyed getting to travel. She loved the outdoors and enjoyed living in beautiful Colorado where she could hike and enjoy the scenery. Mallory and her dog Angel had many outdoor adventures, sometimes it was just the two of them, but more often than not she was joined by some of her many friends. She was friendly and enjoyed helping people and thrived when serving others. Her beautiful smile and kind words surely brightened the days of customers and coworkers.

Mallory was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, Suzanne Terrill, Wilbert and Evelyn Knop, brother-in-law, Michael L. Barnes, and many friends. She is survived by her furbaby and constant companion, Angel and her siblings and their families, Jennifer Barnes (Michael), Gwendolyn Anderson (Kenny) and Robbie Knop, (Lizzy). Her Grandpa Robert Terril and Grandmother Carol Knop, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Her wish was to be cremated and will be buried with her father in Castle Dale, Utah. Graveside service Friday, July 2, 2021, 10:00 am., Castle Dale Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home where friends are welcome to share memories at www.mitchellfuneralhome.net.

She was loved and will be missed.

The family wishes to thank the many family members and friends who reached out with offers of support and Calhoun-Edfast Mortuary and Mitchell Funeral Home for the support and care for Mallory.
