Fay Eugene Giles passed away with strength, grace and peacefully surrounded by his loved ones, on June 28, 2021 at the young age of 92.  A beloved and irreplaceable man; he touched lives in simple ways throughout his journey through life and every place he lived.  He is adored as a loving husband of his wife Carole Marian Giles, with whom he is now enjoying a sweet reunion.  He was also proceeded in death by his father, Morris Dean Giles, Mother, Jessie Lou Venters, Brothers,  John Richard Giles,( Mildred), Doyle Giles (Francis), JD Higginbotham, (Gail) many grandparents, cousins, aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces and dear friends.

Fay was born in Hamburg, Arkansas to loving parents, his father was killed in a tragic accident while his wife held her two eldest sons in her arms as they watched.  He was raised working hard and was a supporter to his mother and brothers as she navigated through single-parenting and other challenges and happy moments.

Fay quit school at the age of 12, to help provide for his family.  However, he re-entered as officials invited him back to complete his education and of course, play sports. He attended Hamburg High School in Ashley County.  He was a great student and star athlete.

Fay served in the United States Army and was honorably released in 1949. He was devoted to this country and the constitution runs through his veins.  He was stationed during peaceful times mostly in Panama City.  He courageously left his mother and three brothers as he bravely accepted the reality, he may never see any of them again.  They were all rejoined when he received his honorable release in 1949. Courage comes to those that stand for their country, Fay served his country well.

After the military, Fay worked for a seismic company that brought him to Utah, and while working in Price, he met his late wife, and love of his life, Carole.  They were married, March 27, 1958.

They had four children; Rebecca Marshall (Michael), Nancy Basford (Jerry), Cheryl Giles, Randy Misner (significant other) and Karen Crouch (Andy).  Also leaving behind many adored grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  Fay and Carole knew and loved many children that considered them their grandparents as well.

Fay enjoyed the outdoors, especially any adventure with his wife and families.    Fay was an amazing Scout Leader in Moab, with many young men remembering how much they appreciated his leadership. In Moab, he enjoyed his bowling league and picnics on the dessert with family and the Asay’s.

Our family was moved to Delta, Colorado where he worked for Rocky Mountain Natural Gas Co. Fay’s greatest love was shared with his Love, as they spent time with the family fishing at Grand Mesa and Sweitzer Lake. His family loved the Sunday drives through the local countryside.

Moving to Price, Utah, Fay worked for Mountain Fuel.  He continued his passion to share the mountains, especially Potters Ponds as well as family drives.  Fay had such a simple way of showing love to all who knew him.  He worked hard to always provide for his family.  His love resonates in the hearts of many.

Fay rejoiced in his early retirement from Mountain Fuel.  At that time, he and his wife were able to enjoy adventures with his family and yearly trips back to his hometown and family in Hamburg Arkansas.

He loved hunting, yet only when he needed the extra meat to get his family through rough winters.  Later, when the meat wasn’t needed, the adventure became about target practice and good coffee with his friends and family.

Fay was raised attending his Southern Baptist Church with his mother and brothers.  He kept the tradition as he would support his girls in their decisions to seek religion in their lives as it seemed to inspire each one.  He joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in 1967.  He desired to provide a choice for his family.

Many years later, Fay decided to join his wife in their remarkable journey to become endowed and sealed in the Draper LDS Temple on November 11, 2020.  He has fondly continued to say he gave up his coffee for his eternal companion.

Fay enjoyed adventures, drives throughout the country and local states we lived in as well as chasing bobcats up the hills.  He was always happy for new scenery and a beautiful view.

Fay was a courageous, brave, hard-working, soft-spoken, generous, funny, loving and endearing man that has a special gift of solving big problems with simple solutions that are offered in short, concise sentences.  He is obedient and very devoted to his family.  He worked hard, many over-time hours, yet we never felt his overtime.  He had a gift for making every minute count  May we learn to do the same, keep it simple, be strong and have courage, show our devotion and make our mark by making every minute count. We feel we have won the lottery of parents and now have the sweetest angels among us in great force.
