It’s time once again to speak with Castle Dale Mayor Danny Van Wagoner to discuss beautification, water usage, fire restrictions, and Castle Dale Days.
“We’re doing pretty good. We’ve got some great citizens here that have been stepping up their games and really helping with the efforts around the town. We had a youth group come in yesterday and they painted all the red and the fire hydrants on our Main Street. Good stuff, fun stuff and practical stuff,” said Mayor Van Wagoner. The youth group that did the painting was made up of members of the Youth City Council and a group of young men from Lehi. Support for the project and supplies were provided by the local 4-H Office and the city.
City officials are so impressed with how residents are taking it upon themselves to watch their water usage during the summer drought. “We have cut our water use quite dramatically. We’re going to be able to see water lasting longer probably into September. So I am encouraging people to continue with what they’ve been doing, cause what we’re doing is doing it right,” said Mayor Van Wagoner. Again, city officials commend residents for their hard work in conserving water during these dry summer months.
The city implemented fire restrictions before the Fourth of July holiday and many residents obeyed the restrictions that were set in place. “We had a great uneventful Fourth of July. There were no fireworks let off in Castle Dale and everybody seemed to follow the rules. Tying it right back into water, they know that they don’t want to have to use our precious commodity of water to just put out a silly fire from a firework. So people were really good I hope that continues on into the 24th of July, which is the second big holiday for fireworks,” stated Mayor Van Wagoner. The city will still implement the same fire restrictions they issued for the Fourth of July for the upcoming Pioneer Day holiday.
Castle Dale Days had set the theme this year to “Stirr Up Some Fun” and the city is preparing for the celebration that is going to take place on August 4 through August 7. There will be 4-H exhibits, dinner, poker run, parade, motorcycle rodeo, cornhole tournament, and the Cowboys Memorial Rodeo. Further information about the upcoming event can be found on the Castle Dale City Facebook page.
