David Kent Pilling, age 83, passed away July 12, 2021.

Dad was born in Carbonville, Utah at his grandmother’s home on January 30, 1938 to Woodrow and Erma Pilling.

Dad married Lois Gilson March 30th, 1956 in Dragerton, Utah. Together they had 2 sons and 3 daughters they later divorced.

He later married Carol Stokes, with their marriage his family grew, with her children and grandchildren, They later divorced.

Dad was a lifelong coal miner, he started coal mining at age 18, and threw the years of hard work and dedication, classes at college, became a mine superintendent. His expertise led him to being a mining consultant for several coal companies in the United States and including a mine in Germany. He was recognized as an icon in the coal industry. Once he retired, he went back to his first love ranching, and was currently operating the Big Spring Ranch.

He loved hunting, shooting, and ranching, he loved and admired his cows.

Survived by his children, Kittie (Gene) Feichko, Carbonville, Norma Cunningham, Nevada, Bridget (Carry) Neilson, Huntington; sister, Jennie Marrs, Price; brother-in-law and friend Laurence Gilson, Price; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his parents; both sons, David Demar Pilling, Kent Louis Pilling; daughter in law, Kari Pilling; grandsons, Martin Scarlett, Robert Andrew Cunningham; sister, Susan Critchelow; brother William (Bill) Pilling; brothers in law, Jim Marrs and Skip Critchelow.
