This month’s Huntington City update will discuss water usage and fire restrictions so Castle Country Radio was able to get all the details from Huntington City Council Members Lisa Miller and Gloria Wilson
The city recently held its Heritage Days celebration, which went on without a hitch. “We had a great Heritage Days; everything was record-breaking, the crowds were fantastic, the people loved it. Our fireworks were outstanding and we’re glad its over,” said Miller. This year’s event was held at the Canyon View Middle School football field to make more room for vendors plus to help with social distancing. Many residents enjoyed the new location this year.
During the celebration, the city had some guests from Africa filming the various activities held throughout the festivity. “They filmed everything. They came and asked if they could film our rodeo and I told them absolutely. They filmed our parade, they was at the Ice Cream Social, they was at all of the festivities where we had the concert, and the kids’ game. It was a group of three of them, they were very friendly and it was nice,” said Miller. They also filmed other locations in Emery County. It is not known when and where the film will be shown but they sure enjoyed their visit to Emery County.
The city has applied water restrictions this summer and folks seem to adhere to those conditions without hesitation. “Huntington City started and we implemented with the water restrictions as soon as our secondary turned on. Citizens of Huntington have really done well with the restrictions that we have placed upon them,” said Wilson. There is no watering between the hours of 9:00 am and 7:00 pm, as well as no watering on the weekends. The city appreciates all the hard work its citizens have done in conserving water this summer.
City officials were happy to report there were no fire incidents over the Fourth of July holiday as Wilson explains, “We did, we had a very safe Fourth of July. We actually had Cleveland City Firefighters that were backing up our firefighters when we actually did the main fireworks show. So we felt very confident in our firefighters and the show that they put on.” The city hopes its residents will continue to obey the fire restrictions for the upcoming Pioneer Day holiday.
