The Merchants finished their regular season in first place in their region at 11-3  and 19-3 overall. Helper earned a first round bye and will not have to begin tournament play until July 23.

The Merchants gave up five runs through three innings and were down 6-4 headed into the sixth inning, that’s when Helper found their offense scoring 10 runs and none were bigger than Wyatt Falk’s grand slam that was part of a 10 run sixth. Derick Robison added another home run in the game as well.

On the mound for the Merchants, Fossat got the start, going five innings and Rylan Hart came in for the final two innings earning the win.

Now the 19u team will wait till this weekend to find out who and where they will play when the tournament begins next week. And even after they ended the season at 19-3 coach Dakota Cisneros knows that the season starts now.

“It’s like I told my guys last night with the playoffs coming up our record is zero and zero, just like everybody else. It’s a new season really, that’s the way you’ve go to approach it, what you’ve done to this point doesn’t matter.”

It’s not only the 19u team that is preparing for post season play but the 17u and 15u as well.

The 17u team is playing Stansbury, today (Friday) and if they win they will punch their ticket for the state tournament which begins on July 19 at Lone Peak.

The 15u team is on the road in Logan facing Ridgeline in a best two-out-of three series, for a chance to go to the tournament as well which will begin July 22 at Mountain Crest.
