
Barbara Ruth Bussey Warren, age 88, passed away peacefully July 23, 2021.
She was born in Newhall, California on August 14, 1932 to Clarence Victor Bussey and Esther Ruth Longacre. Growing up with her younger sister Bernie on horse ranches and western movie sets was something Barbara was proud of. This upbringing led to lifelong passion for the western tradition.
Barbara was a high school graduate of Douglas Mindon High School. She attended one semester at the University of Nevada where she was a member of the ski team.
Barbara met Clark Warren on December 24th in Carson City, Nevada at her girlfriend’s house. Barbara’s father invited Clark and two other sailors stationed at Alameda to Christmas dinner at the ranch They were married November 22, 1951 in Yuma, Arizona.
She worked for Rohr Aircraft in Chula Vista and trained for the use of card processors, the precursor to the computer.
After a military transfer to Norfolk, Virginia, daughter Kathy was born at the Portsmouth Naval Hospital.
The family moved to Utah in the 1960’s and she went to work at Thiokol in Brigham City. She also worked for the LDS Church in the computer section for U and I Sugar. They then moved to Dutch John where Barbara worked for the Forest Service. She cared so much about wildlife that she helped Clark bandage a deer’s broken leg and nurse it back to health. While living there, Clark and Barbara adopted Scott in 1968. Clint was adopted the following year.
They then moved to Wayne County where Barbara became interested in first aid response and advanced emergency first aid.
The family then transferred to Price in 1973 where she continued her interest in advanced first aid. She became instrumental in creating the first ambulance service in Carbon County and was once awarded EMT of the Year. She continued this service for several years before accepting a position in the County Clerk’s office to assume the task of transferring county records to microfiche.
Barbara loved to bowl for years with her friends on a team called the “Alley Cats”. She was active in the local archeology and paleontology groups and served many positions. She enjoyed her time volunteering for museum archeological surveys and particularly enjoyed Nine Mile Canyon and its history. She was a longtime member of BPW. After Barbara retired, she and Clark enjoyed extensive travel with friends.
She was extremely dedicated to her service of the Ascension St. Matthew’s Church where she held various positions which she was very passionate about. Barbara deeply cherished and was devoted to her family, her friends and her faith.
Survived by her loving husband of almost 70 years, Clark P. Warren; children, Kathy (Dave) Levanger, Scott (Stacy) Warren, Clint (Mindy) Warren; grandchildren, Doug Levanger, Rose (Rex) Malolo, Ainsley Warren and Brinley Warren; great grandchildren, Tyson Malolo, Carys Malolo, Cady Malolo and Reid Levanger.
Preceded in death by her parents, Clarence V. and Esther Ruth Longacre Bussey; sister, Bernadine Mogensen.
Funeral service Thursday, July 29, 2021, 10:00 a.m., Ascension St. Matthews Church in Price, Utah. The family will receive friends at Mitchell Funeral Home (233 East Main ) Wednesday evening from 6:00-7:00 p.m. and at the church Thursday one hour prior to service. Interment, Cliffview Cemetery, Price, Utah. Masks at the church are required if you haven’t been vaccinated.
