
The USU Extension – Emery County stopped by Castle Country Radio to talk about the 4-H Showcase that will taking place during the Castle Dale City Days celebration. This will take place on August 4 through August 7 at the Event Center in Castle Dale.
“We’re really excited coming up as part of Castle Dale City Days and there calling it Stir Up Some Fun, it’s the rodeo is involved kind of all together next weekend. But we’re doing a 4-H showcase, so all of the kids that have done projects as part of their 4-H endeavors in the last, since we didn’t have fair last year, anything from the last two years is eligible to be exhibited,” said Assistant Professor, Rowe Zwahlen. Items can include sewing, photography, produce, baked goods and plants. All of the exhibits will be on display at the event center for the public to enjoy during the Castle Dale Days celebration.
“Exhibits are going to be at the event center in Castle Dale on Wednesday, August 4 and so exhibits are accepted from noon to 2:00 pm, and then they will be judged starting around 2:30 pm, so they need to definitely be in by 2:00 pm,” stated Zwahlen. Individuals will need to check in items on this day to be considered for judging. Ribbons will be presented after the judging. Some of the top honors will be invited to participate in the State Fair in Salt Lake City.
“In addition to that on Saturday we’ve got some fun events for kids so they will be having the Junior Entrepreneurs that have been working all summer will be having their booths set up. But we also have some fun games, we got a golf chipping contest, we got a fishing casting contest, and I think we got a drone flying contest that’ll be a lot of fun,” said Zwahlen. All of the activities will be free for the children to enjoy after the parade on Saturday, August 7.
