
Coming off a loss to Telos on Monday, the Pinnacle Panther baseball team returned to the field for their home opener on Wednesday and faced the Panguitch Bobcats. The Panthers only recorded two hits in the 20-0 loss in four innings.
Panguitch went 17-7 last season losing to Piute in the final round of the 1A State Championship Tournament.
Pinnacle struggled to find their bats in the contest with Michael Schmitz and Peyton Riley the only Panthers to record hits against the Bobcats pitching.
On the mound for the Panthers, Schmitz got the start going 2 1/3 innings giving up seven runs (three earned) on six hits while striking out five. McGuire Kocks came in to go one inning giving up six (five earned) on four hits striking out two. Delbert Lain and Jaxon Cranford came in to close out the game.
The Panthers will get a breather until Tuesday when they will travel to Green River to face the Pirates. Last season Pinnacle won both meetings against Green River.
The next home game is Saturday the 14 against Tintic, game time is set for 12 p.m..
