On Friday, August 6, 2021 an amazing husband and father returned to his heavenly home.

Don was born on February 6, 1941 in Cleveland, Utah to Alonzo Peter and Elda Mills Oveson. He grew up in Cleveland where he attended elementary school and graduated from North Emery High School in Huntington in 1959. He was married to the love of his life, Beulah Mae McElprang, for 60 years.  Together, they had three beautiful daughters.

After graduating from high school, he and his best bud and future brother-in-law, Robert Oviatt, spent a year in Denver, Colorado attending a trade school. He came home and went to work at Kraync Motors where he worked with Karl Kraync who became a lifelong friend. He later went to work in the coal mines in Carbon and Emery counties while he raised his family.

Don had a love for animals and farming from the time he was a small boy. When the opportunity to purchase his uncle’s farm came up, he took it and moved his family there where he spent the next 40 plus years enjoying his life as a rancher and cowboy.

He was our favorite handyman; he could build or fix anything he set his mind to. He left a beautiful legacy of a handmade cradle for each of his great-grandchildren and had recently purchased materials to build another one for his latest great-grandchild on the way.

He loved spending time in the mountains and on the desert on his horse, and he enjoyed many camping and fishing trips with kids and grandkids. He never missed a chance to tell his kids and his grandkids he was proud of them. It broke our hearts to let him go, but we are forever grateful to be a part of his legacy. Rope ‘em pretty Grandpa!

Don is survived by his wife, Beulah of Huntington; his daughters, and their spouses, Sherrie (Hugh) Grange, Kerri (Kip) Allred, and Dawnette (Kevin) Gordon; seven grandchildren, Colton (MaKaila) Grange, MacKenzi (Trent) Young, Kade (McKenzie) Allred, Karidon (Eddie) Roundy, Erin (Taylor) Behling, Ty (Shadleigh) Gordon, Race Gordon; and seven great-grandchildren; sister, Johannah (Alan, deceased) Jensen; brothers, Dave Lee (Margaret) Oveson and Merrill (Brenda) Oveson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter; Jaycee Dawn Grange; grandson, Laramy Allred; and nephew, Del Oveson.

Funeral service, Friday, August 13, 2021, 11:00 a.m., Huntington Stake Center. The family will receive friends from 6-7:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the stake center and one hour prior to the service on Friday. Interment, Huntington City Cemetery.
