Our favorite Papa, brother, uncle, and fishing buddy, Frank L. Sacco, passed after a hard-fought battle with a degenerative condition, on Saturday, August 7, 2021, while residing at a skilled nursing facility in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Frankie was a wonderful friend to so many and a great neighbor to his extended East Carbon family. He remains a treasured Papa to his children, grandchildren, and great-grandkids.
Frankie was born on October 9, 1945, to Rose Eaquinto and Frank Sacco, Sr. in Dragerton, Utah. Frankie was educated at Notre Dame Catholic High School and graduated from the College of Eastern Utah, both in Price, Utah. Frank began his professional life at a Missile Base in Green River. He had a long career at Kaiser Coal Mine in Sunnyside, as well as worked at Tram Electric and the East Carbon City Landfill. Though, Papa would tell you that his favorite job ever was as a sheep herder with his uncle while he was a teenager. Frankie was known for his love of the New York Yankees, making sausage and sharing it with everyone, fishing and hunting with friends, and a devotion to politics. In addition, he was a lifelong fan of Michael Jordan, wonderful morning pancake maker, and avid dog owner. Frankie remains beloved for telling jokes and stories, supporting his grandkids and great-grandchildren, and was a genuine people-person. Frankie was so proud of his Italian heritage and loved listening to Italian music. Frankie was married March 19, 1988, to Toni Bonaquisto in Columbia, Utah.
Frank is survived by their children, Wendi (Gary) Smith, Bountiful, Utah, Michael (Michelle) Oldroyd, South Jordan, Utah; his sister, Rosemarie Carter, Salt Lake City, Utah; brother, Freddie Sacco, Taylorsville, Utah. Papa is also survived by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom he loved dearly – Karli, Charli, Kennedi, Kollins, Ryleigh, Lili, Michael, Devyn, Avery, Jeff, Jr, Ashley, EmmaRose, Jeffrey, Llewellyn, Nicholas, Brooke, and Emma. In addition, he is survived by his niece Lisa (J.L.) Parker (and children James, Isabel, Wyatt, and Cody), Idaho Falls, Idaho; and his nephews, Josh and Frankie Sacco, Price, Utah.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Toni; as well as by his brother-in-law, Jim Carter, his grandparents, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
His family wishes to sincerely thank those who shared their talents and skills taking care of him over these last years and helping us ensure quality of life for Frankie.
